M Chapoutier ‘Sélections Parcellaires’ Vin Doux Naturel, 2021, Banyuls

Banyuls is a small appellation in the Languedoc-Roussillon area, close to the Spanish border that is famed for its dessert wine. Made using Grenache Noir grapes that undergo a short fermentation before grape spirit is added to preserve the natural sweetness in the wine in a process very similar to how most Port is made. Flavours of black fruit, red berries, spice and liquorice are prominent in this indulgent pud wine.
