Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré, 2019, Saint-Julien

The second wine of Léoville Poyferré’s Second Growth classified Château is made of grapes from the estate’s 80 hectares of vines sited across a mixture of gravel soil types. An elegant, expressive nose featuring black fruit and aniseed with floral, smoky overtones, there is a lovely intensity of fruit balanced by fine tannins and acidity, while the finish is knowingly persistent.
