Cline Cellars ‘Ancient Vines’ Mourvèdre, 2020, Contra Costa County, USA

Cline Cellars originated in Oakley, Contra Costa County before moving the mainstay of their production to Carneros. The original ranch still bears fruit, however, and this Mourvèdre is sourced from 100 year old vines. Nicknamed ‘Mour-Fred’ owing to owner Fred Cline’s fondness for this particular varietal, this delicious red displays notes of the blueberry and cherry properties associated with Californian Zinfandel, but the fruit is more precise, with a juicy finish.
