Chateau Macquin St-Georges-St-Emilion, 2019, Bordeaux

Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion is one of a few satellites of Saint-Emilion. While the vineyards lie outside the designated AOC, conditions are largely similar and, when vinification is performed with skill, the wines can compete and even outperform their St-Emilion ‘proper’ neighbours - especially in price and value. Chateau Macquin’s offering is Merlot-dominant, ripe fruit led with careful use of oak and silky tannins.
